Usman is a real estate attorney who focuses on real estate transactions in California involving industrial, office, retail, residential, and mixed-use properties. He has represented a wide array of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, REITs, local and regional businesses, and high net worth individuals.
He publishes the leading blog on the widely-used real estate contracts issued by the AIR Commercial Real Estate Association, AIR Forms Practitioner blog. Usman frequently gives seminars to real estate professionals, which focus on leasing, purchase/sale transactions, and landlord-tenant litigation. He has given seminars at Cushman & Wakefield, Colliers International, Lee & Associates, and NAI Capital.
Usman also represents landlords and tenants in commercial unlawful detainer actions, and in leasing disputes. He has served as outside general counsel to companies in various industries, including technology, financial services, hospitality, apparel, medical, and real estate.
He is “of counsel” to Jones, Bell, Abbott, Fleming & Fitzgerald L.L.P., where he was an attorney and partner for many years. He collaborates with Jones Bell in a variety of practice areas, including real estate litigation, business litigation, employment, and class actions.
Usman graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley. He obtained his law degree from Pepperdine University, where he studied on full scholarship and graduated with honors. He was a member of the Law Review.
